This is the 1953 plan which was put forth during the late Grande Noirceur period

and I drew a lot of inspiration from the visual language that they use

and ultimately the streetcar system was abandoned between 1958 and 1962 as expressway mania took over the country

There were even proposals put forth during the war to bury DC's busiest streetcar lines underground
